[edit] Purpose

This extension allows for managing the namespaces. This process is usually handled through settings LocalSettings.php.

• No patches
• Secure: the registry page is located in NS_MEDIAWIKI namespace
• Safe: the 'immutable' namespaces can not be changed (the ones defined in LocalSettings.php)
  • Only the ones managed through this extension can be changed
• Relies on a parser function #mns to perform the work
• Definition errors appear inline with the registry page
• Logging

• Edit the page MediaWiki:Registry/Namespaces
• Use the parser function #mns to populate the namespace definition
• Save the page

1. ↑ The most recent release is always available through the extension's PEAR and SVN repositories. This page is not necessarily up-to-date.
2. ↑ ^{2.0 2.1 2.2} Extension:ExtensionManager does not require any modification to LocalSettings.php because ExtensionManager includes the extension.
   Note that if PHP code caching is in place (e.g. APC, eAccelerator), then to successfully complete the installation a cache flush might be needed.
3. ↑ Modifications to LocalSettings.php is only necessary if not using Extension:ExtensionManager

• Make sure that the extension's directory is readable by the HTTP server
• Make sure that the file 'ManageNamespaces.namespaces.php' is readable & writable by the HTTP server
