Desysop is an extension that gives bureaucrats the ability to revoke sysop access. It was written by Andrew Garrett in August 2006. The current version of MediaWiki has this feature in the core product.

The extension works just like Makesysop, but instead of granting sysop access, this extension revokes sysop access from an user.

A log of all bureaucrat actions is maintained at Special:Log/rights.

The extension is available under the GNU General Public License 2.0 or later, and can be downloaded from Subversion, or accessed via the web-based viewer.
The software is provided as-is. Updates will be made according to the needs of Wikimedia wikis, or where critical vulnerabilities are discovered.
