Cite is an extension which allows a user to create footnotes. Cite includes several extensions which can be installed independently and operate independently of each other.
- Cite.php allows users to create footnotes
- SpecialCite.php creates a special page (Special:Cite) and in the main namespace, a toolbox link to it.

Like most things in the MediaWiki world, this extension is mostly translated in Translatewiki.net. Direct link: Translation of Cite extension messages.
However, as a special case, the content of the Special:Cite page is translated in separate text files. If you would like a translation to your language, please submit it in a text file named cite_text-XX, where XX is your language's code. For existing translations, see the cite_text* files in SVN.
