Wikidata?[edit]

I have to dig in my notes, but I'm pretty sure we discussed something similar to this last year at Wikimania. Store a geodata on Wikidata and every language can use it with the localized labels etc. Multichill (talk) 20:31, 9 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please do dig out those notes and preferably share them beforehand. I would like us to do more hacking and less talking at the hackathon as until we start to build something, I worry we will just argue till we're blue in the face :-) Jdlrobson (talk) 15:53, 23 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

@User:MultiChill did you find these notes? Jdlrobson (talk) 22:30, 21 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Great proposal[edit]

I'm in! Over the course of the year since the hackathon last year, there have been many discussions about how to link between OSM and Wikimedia. How it's done before and how it should/could be done in the future. I am thinking, we should have a representative group of people who could bring up the necessary points to discussion at the hackathon. (OSM, Wikidata, WIWOSM, WikiMiniAtlas, Wikimaps Atlas).

In the Wikimaps project, we have discussed the Template:Map which closely relates to this, and a broad discussion about linking places across systems, and creating a historical place name gazetteer within Wikidata, and we were prepared to do some group work around those themes in Zürich. --Susannaanas (talk) 06:15, 10 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

My biggest concern about the hackathon is it could turn into a big discussion with no output. I think it's vital we have some kind of output and create some progress in this field. If you have any ideas on how we might focus this conversation and create a minimum viable product I would love to here. Jdlrobson (talk) 22:30, 21 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
