[edit]Weekly essential work update for 2026-W25

[edit]- Phab deployment on Wednesday (T429350) updated translations and got rid of some log noise
- https://development-metrics.wmcloud.org exists and contains what used to be on Bitergia. Now that we have access to the backend, we were able to link 10K+ identities without email address to an email address, enabling us to better determine unique developers across our systems.
- Upgrading Zuul, the CI system for MediaWiki software on Gerrit, the first successful job this week (zuul.wikimedia.org). That means, Zuul is running in production, listening to our Gerrit, queuing jobs in zookeeper, processing those jobs by talking to a Kubernetes running in Wikimedia Cloud Services, executing test runs, and reporting back to Zookeeper.
- Next steps: getting job logs working and shoring-up the initial implementation.
Blockers
[edit]- T366644 Raising MediaWiki's MariaDB requirement to 10.6 meant we spent time this week creating new MariaDB hosts in beta cluster T428910

Community collab
[edit]- Discussion and call this week with folks on the Wikimedia discord as a followup from this year's Developer Satisfaction Survey about the state of Code Review (slides on commons). Yielded interesting ideas.
- Idea: team dashboards on code reviews pending in their area
- Idea: Send out a reminder about MIA folks on the auto-git reviewer mw:Git/Reviewers list
- Heard: Nobody likes Gitiles (the code browser for Gerrit). This is not news, nobody likes it internally either, seems like folks on Discord feel the same way.
