Hi[edit]

Hi there. Sorry for the mildly snarky reply on the flow portal page; where should I send the thesaurus? Β :-) Risker (talk) 05:17, 15 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Risker. It's kind of a funny note. On the other hand, none of those words actually have exactly the same meaning. For example, it's often a procedure (and my examples are), but not always. However, perhaps your suggested words will find favor with the OP. WhatamIdoing (talk) 05:33, 15 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Well, I actually take exception to the use of the term "workflow" to some of the things that are being labeled that way; it's just WMF shorthand for "something that happens" more than "something that is performed in specific steps that are carefully ordered and interdependent", which is the normal real-world definition of "workflow". The term is being used to describe processes as opposed to workflows in a lot of cases, and there are differences. I've already been pounded on for not wanting to use the word "board" because every time I see it, I can only think of bulletin boards and message boards, and things that are so 1990s, and I'm fairly amazed that anyone would want that kind of mental association with a spiffy new project. But meh. At least my arbcom term will be done before this gets deployed. Risker (talk) 05:41, 15 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
When I hear "board" I tend to think about the physical objects in schools. But I don't really care what they call it. I don't believe that any word used by any dev has the power to turn Wikipedia into Facebook, and we will ultimately call it whatever we want. WhatamIdoing (talk) 14:55, 15 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Flow Portal/FAQ[edit]

I still don't understand why [[[:Template:Fullurl::]] you replaced] a much better wording of my question (basically "What editing interfaces will Flow support and which one will be the default?") with my previous bad wording. And why you replaced the complex but actually helpful answer by Jorm with a "see previous question"? Let me try it that way: Question 1: Is this replacing ice cream with vegetables? Answer: Yes. Question 2: I see. I agree vegetables have a lot of advantages above ice cream. We should do this. But what's with all the users that like a cold refreshment? Your answer to this question was: We are replacing ice cream with vegetables. You see this is not an answer. --TMg 17:05, 20 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

If you want to ask a question, then I suggest that you find the discussion page and ask your questions, rather than continuing to edit war over the documentation. WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:59, 20 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Please don't talk to me like I'm an idiot. You obviously misinterpret my intention completely. All I want is the FAQ to answer questions all users in the Wikipedia projects are asking and confused about. There are already lots of discussions about these questions. I don't need to start an new one. There is already a lot of harm done to Flow by misleading communication from all sides. The current state of the discussions needs to be documented in a comprehensible way. "No" is not a de-escalating answer. "See question 1" is not a de-escalating answer. --TMg 20:49, 20 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Gills full[edit]

You have heard me speak about spambots endlessly. Well, today, they were everywhere. When I spend half my time battling spambots, then things are grossly wrong. Left a note on MD's meta page, then reverted later. [Not even the energy to take the battle.] Their apparent blindness and deafness has pretty much burnt me. Seems that vols. are cheap labour and easier than good systems. #yeahwell β€” billinghurst sDrewth 10:43, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
