Hi Wargo, I see you have been renamed a while ago, and some pages in your old userspace have been automatically renamed. These pages have been deleted, so there is a redirect to a non existing page, which can be tagged with {{Speedy }} I think, so I've deleted them now.

• jeśli tłumaczysz treść danej strony to staraj się to robić od początku do końca, a nie w międzyczasie zaczynać jeszcze 3-4 strony
• robisz wiele błędów i literówek, proszę sprawdzaj pisownię przed zapisaniem tekstu (przykładowo przeglądarka Mozilla Firefox ma słownik)
• staraj się tworzyć linki do polskich artykułów, bo linkujesz z polskich stron na angielskie
• tutaj przykład poprawek

Witam. Mam jednak prośbę o to, żebyś nie tworzył nowych stron dopóki nie przetłumaczysz/poprawisz tych co zrobiłeś wcześniej. Tworzenie takich duplikatów, gdzie więcej tekstu jest po angielsku niż po polsku nie ma najmniejszego sensu, a wręcz jest szkodliwe, ponieważ MediaWiki cały czas się zmienia, a wraz z nią dokumentacja, więc jeśli nie dokończysz tłumaczenia to wkrótce będziemy mieli dokumentację nie dość, że po angielsku, to jeszcze nieaktualną. Jeśli chcesz popracować nad tłumaczeniem, to zakładaj strony we własnej przestrzeni nazw (User:Woytecr/xxx), wtedy będzie wiadomo, że strona jest niegotowa i nie nadaje się do przeglądania. pozdrawiam Beau (talk) 17:17, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Translate and categories

Hello, I noticed this. I understand the problem. I think we need a template which automatically adds the proper language-subpage category to each page, taking the language code from the subpage title. There's been an attempt at wm2012:Template:AddLanguageCategory, but it didn't look very robust last time I looked at it (see also talk). I hope you can find a solution! Category:Languages pages without translations

Hello, can you help me empty this category by removing {{Languages }} in those pages? They filled Project:Language_policy/Migration_list unnecessarily and the work to import old translations is big enough. :) If the template is meant to ask translation of a page because it's considered important, it can be replaced by a couple of <translate></translate> tags anywhere so that is shows up on Special:PageTranslation and someone marks it sooner or later. You have volunteered to be a coordinator for the Talk pages consultation 2019. Thank you!

We want to share with you some important information, so as some advice. All of this is based on feedback, observations and some decisions taken around phase 1 of the consultation.

Can you ask for details?

On the already started consultations, we have noticed that some people explain what they wish to have, and they express what they like or dislike about talk pages. However, they don't explain the reasons why.

Explaining why is very important: it allows us to find the common needs between users. Can you please review the feedback already received, and ask for details and "why"?

Reaching at other projects

Most of the consultation pages are hosted on Wikipedia, on several languages. We also need to get the feedback from people who contribute to other projects. Don't forget to invite them to participate (or setup their own consultation page). The more feedback we have, the better.

Reaching at newcomers

Most feedback received so far has come from experienced users. It is unfortunately not representative of all the users who use talk pages. Please consider to send an invite to some active newcomers. Again, the more feedback we have, the better.

To find some newcomers to contact, you can replace the RecentChanges link on your wiki with the following set of filters: Special:RecentChanges?userExpLevel=learner&hidebots=1&translations=filter&hidecategorization=1&hideWikibase=1&namespace=1%3B3%3B5&limit=500&days=30&urlversion=2. It will show the list of users who have made less than 500 edits, and some edits on discussion pages. You can also invite people who left messages on your local Help desk.

Due date is now known!

Community summaries are due by April 6, 2019. We advise communities, especially the ones that would have had collected a lot of replies, to end the conversation by March 31. That way, volunteers will have enough time to wrap up the discussions.

How to close the conversations?

We have seen that some of the coordinators have started the conversations using the usual places to have conversations on their wikis. It is an easy way to reach people. However, since the consultation is based on a different consultation process than the usual ones, those rules regarding how to close conversations may not need to be applied. It is up to you to decide!

Why does that require multiple lua modules? Has this approach been proposed and/or documented somewhere---other language (variants) do not seem to involve all that. I would assume people from the zh community would be involved, not just random ip addresses creating modules. Perhaps a bug/feature request would be more appropriate, or if you are just trying something out you can use the test wiki or sandbox. Clump (talk) 11:41, 14 July 2019 (UTC)

@Clump: In Chinese, words may have multiple meanings in different situations, like "支持" in zh-hans may refer to "支持" in non-Information Technology field in zh-hant, but usually use "支援" in Information Technology field in zh-hant. In order to make the conversion correct, zh Wikipedia use public conversion group (CGroup) in specific field like Astronomy, IT, Chemistry, Physics, and so on. Those situations aren't always suitable all the time, so we only use NoteTA template to add these CGroups in specific pages that the conversion needed to be corrected, and don't convert those words on the whole site. The conversion rules in CGroups aren't suitable for all pages, so it's not a conversion bug.

The basic syntax in Writing_systems/Syntax can only create a conversion rule in the word which is selected, so we create Template:NoteTA, Module:NoteTA and CGroups to create a whole-page conversion.The default conversion rules are in ZhConversion.php, and non-global conversion rules are on CGroup Template and Module pages like Module:CGroup/IT. 49.215.195.164 (talk) 23:23, 14 July 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for the explanations. That all seems reasonable, and the code does not look complex, although it handles a large number of terms of questionable value on this wiki, and its effects do not seem entirely isolated to zh-* translations (if just in relatively benign category creations). I am still unsure how it would interact with the translation system in use here, which organizes translations by small units rather than as whole, separate page conversions.

It would be helpful to have someone actively doing Chinese translations and/or translation development advocate for this. Is there some reason you refuse to login? Absence of support from any existing, established users/translators is a concern. Clump (talk) 13:05, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

Actually, the original reason of “Why I didn't login” is:

1. I was logged in in Wikipedia, but forgot to login this site (It will not automatically login to other projects).
2. After I applied the changes ,discovered that I didn't login, and noticed the page has been deleted, I think It's a good opportunity to see what the users who delete the page will interact with IP users.
3. The code is copied from zh Wikipedia, only removed untranslated documentation and external links.
4. And there's a little inconvenience that when I clicked the log in link in the edit page and loggedin, it redirects me to the view page, and I have to re-click the edit button again. It seems easy in desktop view with desktop screen, but hard to click every links, buttons, and textareas in mobile screen (with desktop view).

By the way, What is your timezone? It's UTC+8 without DST here.

It seems that everything works fine except the -{T|}- rule used for zh title conversions (same as {{DISPLAYTITLE:}}, but {{DISPLAYTITLE:}} cannot make any conversions, so the -{zh:Chinese content;zh-hans:Simplified Chinese content;zh-hant:Traditional Chinese content;}- markup doesn't work in {{DISPLAYTITLE:}}), maybe the problem is the {{DISPLAYTITLE:}} in Extension:Translate will override the -{T|}- rule.

When I hover over the thumbs of the userfeedback gadget, they grow a little, but they also get a background color, which crosses the border of the gadget output (div#mw-gadget-userfeedback) because of the grow. [WMF Board of Trustees - Call for feedback: Community Board seats] Meetings with MediaWiki and Wikitech communities

The Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees is organizing a call for feedback about community selection processes between February 1 and March 14. While the Wikimedia Foundation and the movement have grown about five times in the past ten years, the Board’s structure and processes have remained basically the same. As the Board is designed today, we have a problem of capacity, performance, and lack of representation of the movement’s diversity. Our current processes to select individual volunteer and affiliate seats have some limitations. Direct elections tend to favor candidates from the leading language communities, regardless of how relevant their skills and experience might be in serving as a Board member, or contributing to the ability of the Board to perform its specific responsibilities. It is also a fact that the current processes have favored volunteers from North America and Western Europe. In the upcoming months, we need to renew three community seats and appoint three more community members in the new seats. This call for feedback is to see what processes can we all collaboratively design to promote and choose candidates that represent our movement and are prepared with the experience, skills, and insight to perform as trustees?

In this regard, two rounds of feedback meetings are being hosted to collect feedback from the technical communities in Wikimedia. Two rounds are being hosted with the same agenda, to accomodate people from various time zones across the globe. We will be discussing ideas proposed by the Board and the community to address the above mentioned problems. Please sign-up according to whatever is most comfortable to you. You are welcome to participate in both as well!

How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
