Help with parser error[edit]

I saw that you made an edit to the Help page for Parser functions. I am involved in a few projects at wikipedia utilizing something that I am getting an error on. If you know about them, could you answer my question I asked here. If you don't know, that is cool, but I thought I would ask just in case. Thanks! 09:35, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks a lot for the help. I allowed myself to forward your suggestion to the author of the extension

Help:Linked images[edit]

Hello. I understand your point, but PD helps are meant to be distributed freely, and they should only interlink within the PD helps (see Project:PD help#Editorial guidelines) so I think eventually that redirect should be put back to what I made, or the page itself removed. --Aotake 12:53, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

So why exactly did you remove a PD from the PD namespace? Is that legal under the namespace licensing here? Splarka 00:34, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
Because I agreed to the opinion of Harry Wood posted at Manual talk:Linked images and you had replied as “Feel free to move whatever needs to be moved”. I don't see any problem of moving PD documents into non-PD namespaces, while moving vice versa will certainly have a legal problem. Am I wrong? --Aotake 07:34, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
Probably not technically, still seems a bit shady though. Splarka 08:04, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

RE:padded page size[edit]

Thank you very much, that was exactly was I was looking for (the first one), regards, Gons 15:38, 6 March 2009 (UTC).

Scap map vs localization[edit]

Quick note before I forget again -- I was showing the scap map gadget to Erik yesterday and we noticed that the box coloring doesn't work when the UI is set to German; looks like it doesn't recognize the localized status text. I think you can pull the revision status from the class on the table row in a language-neutral way; if not let me know and we can add something appropriate. :D --brion 18:18, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Fixed? Splarka 00:47, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

usage in Template:Extension[edit]

You added the check usage link to Template:Extension, and you mentioned that it is courtesy of in the summary, and that it scrapes Special:Version to find wikis that use each extension. I'm wondering how this works, how finds these wikis (does it use a web crawler robot?), and when such information is updated.

I know that at least three or four wikis use one of my extensions (Wikilog), but the tool currently doesn't list any of them. Is there any way to "ping" the tool so that it checks these wiki's Special:Version and add them to the list?

Some documentation in Template talk:Extension would be good.

Thanks! Best regards, --Juliano 03:34, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

This feature is very experimental and still being tested. I don't know the particulars but even of the wikis being tracked by s23 it seems to miss a lot of extensions. The addition to the template of the link came about from an IRC chat with Mutante, who indicated it was a new experimental feature of s23 and wanted some testing of it (with some feedback by me). You can see this conversation at /%23mediawiki/20090414.txt. The relevant bits start at [21:53:46] and going on for about an hour. To include your wiki in s23 stats it looks like you add the request to this page. Documentation may be forthcoming after more feedback (and if we can pokle Mutante to write some, heh). Ok, thanks! --Juliano 03:56, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Special:Code/MediaWiki/48837#c2257? :)

Bug in {{REVISIONUSER}} when using Special:Code. Your name is not there. Splarka 10:39, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Ah ... lol!

Scapmap idea[edit]

Maybe a link to close it if you don't want it open anymore? Just a thought :P ^demon 15:31, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

It can be hidden simply with forward/back navigation. Is that not enough? Splarka 21:24, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello, thks for your answer about magic word improvement. I wonder why do my username appears there: rev:49575 ? Do you have any idea ? --almaghi 12:59, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

see Bugzilla:19006. In Special:Code this magic word always shows the viewer's name. Bug. Splarka 23:28, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Gday. Your script Gadget-LinkPatroller.js has been used successfully over at enWS for a period of time, and recently discovered that it needed a tweak to resolve an issue caused by a previous upgrade of the MW application. There was also a recommendation Bugzilla:23132 that the script be updated to utilise the API (further detail at the respective WS talk page) and I wondered whether you would be able to look at the issue and assist in a robust solution. Such knowledge is way outside both my knowledge base and comfort zone. Thanks. billinghurst sDrewth 11:32, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

That script is rather old, predates any of the API calls that later became available to make patrolling easier IIRC. I am afraid though I've had to step away from mediawiki javascript due to jQuery proliferation making JS very slow and annoying for me. But in theory someone who has kept up with the API and jQuery should be able to rewrite it (start from scratch, rather) easily. Splarka 21:10, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
