Please, take a look at the following pages. They might prove useful to you as a newcomer here:

If you have any questions, please ask me on my talk page. Once again, welcome, and I hope you quickly feel comfortable here, and find this site useful documentation of the MediaWiki software.

Using templates in MW:Msu-comment[edit]

I'm an admin on a wiki that uses MsUpload. We tried to change the default "MsUpload" message for files into a short default description and {{license}}. Files uploaded after that ended up with msu-comment: Unknown operation "license". Searching around, I discovered that the mw.msg you are using in your code defaults to .text() for jQueryMsg which causes brackets to be parsed (similar issues described in bugs 42107, 51321, and 52479 in bugzilla). The workaround (or fix) described at the end of bug 42107 is to replace mw.msg( ); with mediaWiki.message( ).plain(); which will ignore braces and allow templates to be used. I have no clue if our wiki owners would upgrade to this since we're using 9.2 and it's a bit difficult to get a wikifarm to advance an upgrade, but it should help others.
