Extension infoboxes[edit]

Please do not mess with the mediawiki parameter of the template infoboxes. The "+" in them means that it works for that version and all later versions, so adding in a note that it works on the current version of mediawiki is not only superfluous, but it floods Recent changes. Thanks. --Skizzerz 00:50, 28 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

That seems like complete overkill. Again, the + means that it works on later versions not because the extension author thinks it will, but because backwards-compatibility is a major point when updating anything regarding MediaWiki. This means that even if a method that an extension uses becomes deprecated, it is still available for use so that such extensions do not break. As such, there is a very small chance of an extension completely breaking in a later version of MediaWiki, and if that happens those that use the extension will let the author know at that time. Adding a compatibility section would be, as I said earlier, overkill and (imo) quite pointless. --Skizzerz 20:15, 28 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't really want to argue with you, so I suppose just be bold and do what you feel is right. I won't revert you, although I can only speak for myself and not the other sysops. --Skizzerz 20:10, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
