Welcomes[edit]

Some of the people you welcomed haven't even edited, is it really needed to welcome them? Max Semenik 19:31, 13 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

This is an error on my part. Apologies for any inconvenience. --Meno25 19:32, 13 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Regarding substitution of welcome template[edit]

Hi Meno25,

Can you please explain why you're actively substituting usage of the Welcome template? In my opinion this is pretty much useless, doesn't improve anything. As a matter of fact I think it might actually make some things harder. For example, updates. I'm not concerned about users seeing the latest version. It's okay for the version to be fixed at the point they received the message. However the nice thing about keeping it live through transclusion is maintenance:

  • File usage (image is deleted, changed etc.)
  • Page links (redirects)
  • CSS classes (e.g. different class name)

A bot would have to fix all usages to avoid a red link or a broken layout if any of these are to be changed. Substitution also makes the wikitext of that page significantly larger. How about just leaving it as is and making use of the template technology? Krinkle (talk) 15:43, 16 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Timo. I was substituting the template because welcome templates should always be substituted. However, since you objected, I will stop. Also, I can use my bot to unsubstitute the template (but I need to apply for a bot flag first so as not to flood recent changes). --Meno25 (talk) 13:06, 17 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Unintended mistake[edit]

Hello Meno25, while categorizing some photographs on commons.wikimedia.org today, I unfortunately introduced a mistake into three of the categories that I've generated: [[Category:Eco&Mobilité vehicles]], [[Category:Eco&Mobilité electric vehicles]] and [[Category:Eco&Mobilité SimplyCity]]. The correct way of spelling makes it also include an accent on the first capital E: like that: Éco&Mobilité, not Eco&Mobilité. Éco&Mobilité was a small french manufacturer of electric cars that produced the SimplyCity from 2010 to 2011. I haven't got the Move-option, so I cannot do anything about it. Can you correct this for me? Thank you in advance. --A.Abdel-Rahim (talk) 15:03, 5 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

@A.Abdel-Rahim: Hi. Categories can't be moved automatically. I moved those categories for you manually. --Meno25 (talk) 18:38, 5 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Oh, this is great. Thank you so much. --A.Abdel-Rahim (talk) 20:41, 5 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

New translations[edit]

Dear Meno25, I have translated few pages here and would like to propose that you take a look at them and make the necessary changes. These are:

Priority would be tool and extension labels, since I do not know them. Haytham abulela (talk) 16:11, 21 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Haytham abulela: Thank you, Haytham, for your work. Yes Done Best wishes. --Meno25 (talk) 16:25, 21 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Phabricator: wikibugs-l-list removals[edit]

Hey @Meno25, Just a heads up, there is no need to remove wikibugs-l from the subscribers list, It generates noise without much gain. In theory a bulk silenced job could be done if there was really a need. P858snake (talk) 12:42, 15 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi @P858snake and thank you for your message. OK, no problem. I agree with you. Best wishes to you. Meno25 (talk) 13:30, 15 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
