Hi,
On Wikibase/DataModel/JSON, in the section globecoordinate, it is written « altitude: Deprecated and no longer used. Will be dropped in the future. » I'm not 100% sure but I think this is outdated and has been dropped now, if I'm right, shouldn't we remove this sentence? VIGNERON (talk) 17:42, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
- Well, it’s still in the returned JSON as far as I can tell, just always set to
null. Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 17:46, 1 March 2019 (UTC) - Oh ok, strange but ok. Thanks for the quick answer. VIGNERON (talk) 17:56, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
- I filed T217431 to get rid of it :) Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 18:19, 1 March 2019 (UTC)

How we will see unregistered users
[edit]Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Wikidata anchor (sitelink)
[edit]Hi Lucas, I was reading old discussions and I notice your comment here, I completely agree with you, would it be possible to open a task about this issue? It seems very relevant to me. Una tantum (talk) 07:33, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
- That was already done (gerrit:885001). Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 08:43, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
- Ah, perhaps I misunderstood, I thought the general "sitelinks" anchor led to the "Wikipedia" section (exemple) and this is still not working for me. But now I'm testing with
sitelinks-wikipediaand it works. Thank you, Una tantum (talk) 09:13, 18 April 2023 (UTC) - Yes, we just changed which anchor we linked to. Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 09:44, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
Fragen
Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 10:06, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
Commons invalid CSRF token in wikibase-cli
[edit]Hi Lucas, I'm seeing an issue that looks like [1], or at least what I reported at [2], only this time from Commons instead of Wikidata. I haven't opened a ticket in case this is just something on my end; do you know if anyone else has had this issue today? Thanks! Swpb (talk) 15:51, 2 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Swpb: Some session-related changes were deployed earlier today (for T402808 and T399631); it’s probably worth opening a Phabricator task and pinging the people involved there. Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 15:57, 2 October 2025 (UTC)

Your Phab-ban usage on Amrok84
[edit]I failed to see why one single post consitiutes a reason to disable an account. Even if you believe it is unnecessary, it may be done in good faith and simple reminder to that user of how to comment properly in Phabricator is enough. GZWDer (talk) 13:00, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
- I judged their on-wiki contributions to be vandalism as well (and reverted one of them with my volunteer account). Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 13:02, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
- But if this is Wikipedia, one single test edit from a new user is not enough to block a user (a warning like w:Template:Uw-test1 must issued first and user only be blocked if non-constructive edit continues). GZWDer (talk) 13:08, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
- But I did not block the user on Wikipedia, and Phabricator is not Wikipedia. Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 13:41, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
