- Hello Kuldeepburjbhalaike! Thank you for contacting me! It looks like Punjabi Wikipedia doesn't have Growth's mentorship tools set up yet. But it would be great if you helped get Mentorship started on Punjabi Wikipedia! The basic steps are:
- 1. Agree on having mentorship: Start a conversation at the relevant places at your wiki & recruit mentors.
- 2. Activate mentorship: At your wiki, any admin can turn on the mentorship system, via Special:EditGrowthConfig.
- 3. Mentors sign up Once mentorship is activated, then editors can sign up to be Mentor at Special:EnrollAsMentor
- If you want to learn more about Mentorship, these resources might be helpful:
- And if you are interested, here's a link to the slides from today's session.
- Please let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything I can do to help you get Mentorship started on Punjabi Wikipedia! Cheers, - KStoller-WMF (talk) 13:54, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- @KStoller-WMF: thank you for the reply, i am opening a discussion at our VP and update you about this later. Kuldeepburjbhalaike (talk) 16:42, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- That's great! Thanks for getting the discussion started! One good thing to know is that if you decide to enable mentorship, you can have experienced editors sign up to be mentors (via Special:EnrollAsMentor) before you actually activate it. Let me know if I can help answer any community questions that emerge.
- Thanks, - KStoller-WMF (talk) 22:17, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

sorry to bother you
[edit]i am sorry to bother you but i am still looking out for that change. do you know when it will happen? trying to see the total instead of 999+ Iljhgtn (talk) 22:04, 11 November 2023 (UTC)
- Oh no, sorry, I goofed. It looks like the code was merged after the release train cut-off, so it will be visible on English Wikipedia next Thursday (November 16th).
- For urgent fixes, there is another backport process we could have followed the get the change out sooner, but it takes more engineering time to schedule and attend the backport windows.
- I still find the release train schedule confusing, sorry to mislead you! KStoller-WMF (talk) 01:46, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
Hello :) I was just wondering if I could ask for the reasoning behind creating this Phab project? Only asking as it seems to overlap somewhat with the already-existing phab:tag/MediaWiki-User-login-and-signup, which I'm worried might e.g. make it confusing for people to know which tag to sort tasks into (especially as I assume the new tag will be less visible to folks - e.g. developers - than the other tag, given that the other one has already existed for some time). [Apologies if this message is worded badly — to be clear, I'm sure there was a reason for creating it!] Best, —a smart kitten[meow] 08:48, 22 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @A smart kitten, Thanks for checking in! I created this project tag to help the Growth team organize tasks that relate specifically to the Account Creation form. We hope to focus more on UI/UX improvements to that form in the future. I see that work as a subset of the much broader MediaWiki-User-login-and-signup tag. Essentially, all MediaWiki-CreateAccount-page tasks could get tagged with MediaWiki-User-login-and-signup, but not necessarily the other way around.
- I thought that fit within the Phabricator/Creating and renaming projects guidelines, though perhaps there is too much overlap and it would be clearer to manage Growth's focus on Account Creation through epics and subtasks instead? I’m happy to adjust and archive the MediaWiki-CreateAccount-page tag if that seems like the better approach... admittedly I'm still often unsure how to best manage work in Phab. - KStoller-WMF (talk) 21:06, 22 October 2025 (UTC)
- If it helps the Growth team to organise tasks, then on its face that seems like a good reason to have a project - I definitely don't want to be making task organisation harder for people :) Having thought about it some more, I wonder if my concerns might be mitigated if there was a Herald rule to automatically add
#MediaWiki-User-login-and-signupto any tasks that have the#MediaWiki-CreateAccount-pagetag added to them....I might file a task to request something like that. In any event, I'll ping @AKlapper (WMF) here in case he has a suggestion for what might be best here (e.g. regarding an epic task vs. a new project tag). Best, —a smart kitten[meow] 12:01, 24 October 2025 (UTC)- It could be a subproject or there could be a Herald rule to automatically add the second project tag. In any case, it should be enforced to have both tags on it, otherwise folks will not find the subset when looking for User-login-and-signup tasks. Whatever works better for you. :) AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 12:48, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
- Personally I'd prefer for it to not be a subproject, as in my experience Phabricator subprojects have some.... interesting... side effects. I'll file a task requesting a Herald rule, if that sounds good with you, @KStoller-WMF?/genq Best, —a smart kitten[meow] 12:57, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
- That works for me, thank you for helping think this through! - KStoller-WMF (talk) 17:21, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
