I don't understand your responses to my issue

I asked why I have a translation on my list that was already published. You didn't seem to want to help - you directed me to irrelevant issues by other people, and then closed it - why can't I at least get an explanation, or some indication that you actually understood the problem?

Hans Haase (talkcontribs)

Just keep in the list. It is known, but the question is if it is seen as a feature or an issue. In the CXT translated articles seem to kept as connected.

TMagen (talkcontribs)

What does that mean? Why are all my other hundreds of translations either NOT kept in the list, or if I click the trash can - they are deleted, and only this one isn't? I doubt this is a feature...

Hans Haase (talkcontribs)

Don't care, if published, it does not disrupt anything.

TMagen (talkcontribs)

clearly you don't care, you aren't a nice person

Hans Haase (talkcontribs)

Well, in some tools and environments You need to share the space with some dust on the floor. You can complain, but if if You have not rented it, You are just using it, just do not care. I also tried to pull a translation for HE:WP, but that is not supported. The try to remove it, was successful. It may be, the incompatibility is caused by working on same translation with two versions of CXT.

Hi @TMagen, sorry about the confusion.

Which issue are you talking about?

TMagen (talkcontribs)

Hi Amir - I have an article in my "Translations in progress list" (Shirazeh Houshiary) that has been there a long time - it was published at least 5 months ago. When I click the trash can, nothing happens. This isn't a showstopper by any means, I continue to use the tool. But it's annoying and if there is any way to get rid of it, I'd appreciate it... Thanks in advance (at least for a coherent explanation, if the translation cannot be deleted).

Amire80 (talkcontribs)

We'll check this. Thanks.

I created this ticket to capture the issue for further investigation. I guess that previous comments were assuming the issue was a different one in the same area, and that created some miscommunication. Thanks everyone for using the tool, reporting issues and helping to find the right answers.

I tried the new Content Translation with GoogleTrans gadget

I tried the new Content Translation With GoogleTrans gadget and it seemed to work. I didn't actually fully translate an article but just verified that the CTRL-ALT translation under the markup worked. It did. Good luck with the translation. It's really great to do some translations.

Endo999, I am sorry for replying late. I just tested again and it seems all to work fine. The linking fails. It only gets all articles as not existing.

translation of tables in Content Translation

Hi there,

There was a post on translation of tables in Content Translation, it doesn't seem to do it. My GoogleTrans gadget does this quite successfully. You guys can look at the code to see how it is done. Basically a recursive procedure parses the HTML of the selected text and then a list of text elements is assembled. The call to Google is made with every text element being a q= parameter and the resulting return call has enough detail to place the translation text elements within the original text elements. It's not that hard for good programmers.

Translation of table is good use of machine translation, because there can be hundreds of elements that you have to translate by hand, and often the table elements are quite easy to translate. I first did this for French to English track articles, and the Google translation properly translated the event names, the dates, and the towns the events took place in. For town names, for instance, it actually takes an expert translator to properly translate Polish town names in English for instance.

Thanks for replying to my posts. I do think that machine translation is possible and useful for translation of simple elements in HTML tables.

Confirm, see translation results of translation target article de:Hofwijck. The Gallery has the same problem. When there's text outside the table and in the same section, it can give a chance to save the automatic translation.

GoogleTrans gadget's CTRL-ALT Content Translation feature does not work in Edge, but will work in IE11, Firefox, and Chrome. Thanks for spruiking GoogleTrans. The Google translation services have improved a lot over the last several years, and they should be looked at again for machine translation services. IGNACIO is reporting the feature is not working for him, but I tried again myself, and only Edge wasn't working. The other browsers were. I'm not sure if there is a new feature whereby the ne Visual Editor is being used. It is possible that this is a stopping point, but I don't know how to turn it on in the Content Translation Editor to test.
