Image path issue
[edit]I have followed all the steps I have uploaded zip file which includes html and directory containing images. I am able to import it but when viewing the page , it is not able to fetch the image
By default it uses http://localhost/mediawiki/index.php?title=Special:Upload&wpDestFile=One/one/How_to_tutorial/image1.png
in the page itself and hence the image are not shown
When I click on the link, it takes me to upload page Aag2010 (talk) 09:56, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
Html2wiki is not import the files
[edit]Hi Greg,
I would like to ask your help.
Added the html2wiki to site and seems to be working, but facing with 2 issues:
Not getting visible Import HTML in the tools.
The second that the import is not working, they log is not so talky, i simply saved a file in word to html but if i check the dry run and it won't import anything.
Ran to the settings but according to that it seems fine.
Thank you,

- In order to get "Import Html" in the tools menu, you need to edit the tools menu by hand. See the "modules/MediaWiki:Common.js" file included with Html2Wiki for more info. By default, with no tools customization, you must navigate to the Special:Html2Wiki page. That page is restricted to Admin users unless you specifically make other permissions.
- If you could produce a file for testing, I could possibly see what's wrong. Greg Rundlett (talk) 14:12, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
- it was a simple test file saved in word 2016 to html :) only 'test' text was in it. 151.0.70.194 (talk) 15:26, 3 February 2018 (UTC)
- I don't have Word 2016, so I can't reproduce the problem. However, Word doesn't produce good HTML and that's why Html2Wiki doesn't support Microsoft products.
- If your starting source is in the proprietary .doc format, there are other ways that you can convert that to HTML that might work. For example, if you convert it with LibreOffice from .doc to .html then Html2Wiki might be able to import that source. Greg Rundlett (talk) 21:26, 3 February 2018 (UTC)
- Okay, just tested with a very simple html file:
- <html>
- <body>
- <p>
- Test
- </body>
- </html>
- Result in dry run:
- Preview only! Contents were not saved:
- <source id="h2wContent" lang="html4strict">
</source>
- testhtml.html (43 bytes) text/html
- Probably i miss something basic, but not sure what.. 171.20.63.3 (talk) 11:42, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Greg,
- Any ideas what i can check?
- Tried to check the logs, read many times the install guide, but still no idea.
- As you can see with a simple html is not working also.
- Not sure what i should check.
- Thank you,

Html2wiki install in ru:Wikisource
[edit]Hello, Greg. We would like install Html2wiki in https://ru.wikisource.org. How to do this? The extension page has only installation instruction for third-party wikis. Vladis13 (talk) 03:34, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Vladis13, I believe you would need to open a Phab ticket.
- However, this extension has not been installed in any foundation wiki yet, so you'd want to do a code review to check for security problems, or load issues. (I'd love any feedback) Because the extension allows for the bulk import of content and images, it is restricted by default to sysops. It's not meant to be used by regular users. Greg Rundlett (talk) 18:07, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
- Phabricator:T186904. Did I correctly form the task there? It would be great if this will restricted also for the bot owners. Vladis13 (talk) 17:43, 9 February 2018 (UTC)
Removing non-html tags (like <ref>) in Pandoc utility
[edit]Does this extension support <ref> tags and tables? I noticed that Pandoc utility, base for this ext., deletes "ref", and all other non-html tags, along with their contents. Is it possible to disable this in pandoc? Vladis13 (talk) 14:07, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
Html2Wiki does not import html to wiki
[edit]Hello!
I have Mediawiki 1.31 and PHP 7.2
I installed Html2Wiki according to the instructions.
But when I try to import html nothing happens. The wheel turns endlessly and that's it. I tried to reinstall PHP, Pandoc and Tidy but that didn’t help.
I tried to add a href tag to the file but it didn't help either.
Please help me figure it out. This problem is very critical for me. Sferg008 (talk) 09:01, 27 November 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry, but the problem is not solved unfortunately. Maybe you can help with something? Sferg008 (talk) 16:33, 27 November 2018 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to help because I just don't have time right now to test the extension in any environment. But if I or someone else could help; we need something to go on. What specific error message do you get? What content do you use to test? Is the site public (URL)? Check the info at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:How_to_debug Greg Rundlett (talk) 16:58, 27 November 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for the answer! I spent the whole day trying to write something to the log. But unfortunately nothing is recorded. Html2Wiki just hangs on the import, spin the wheel endlessly and nothing happens. How can I upload a file that I am trying to import here? We use local wiki without public URL Sferg008 (talk) 10:29, 29 November 2018 (UTC)

- Hi Frederic,
- I'm sorry that HTML2Wiki hasn't been maintained for compatibility with newer versions of MediaWiki. I don't really know when I will have time to take it up again. I'm hoping to find sponsorship (aka a paid project) where I can modernize Html2Wiki. In the meantime, I will edit the extension page to indicate that it's not compatible. mediawiki version
[edit]Dear Greg,
I am aware that html2wiki is not compitable to the latest mediawiki version but may I know what version of mediawiki is compitable with un-maintained version of html2wiki?
Regards, 79.212.255.32 (talk) 09:45, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
- See the Extension:Html2Wiki page where it says "MediaWiki
- 1.25+ - 1.32". I believe that's accurate. Greg Rundlett (talk) 17:26, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
