Hi,
Did you resolve the issue with ExternalData? I'm having exactly the same problem.. any help appreciated. Spent hours trying all combinations!

- Hey mate! Funny, I was literally just in the process of trying this again when you wrote that comment. I'm afraid I wasn't able to get the prepared statements to work. Like yourself, I've tried heaps of combinations, including the one that was suggested to me on the help page, but to no avail. I've now decided to not access the database directly and instead use #display_external_table. I was going to access a Cargo db, so I've just used Special:CargoQuery to generate the JSON url for #display_external_table. Cheers, Devaroo (talk) 00:31, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hey! Absolute nightmare isn't it? So ambiguous :/ I'm using it on an internal VM, but still, not happy without using prepared statements. If it helps, I was switching between MYSQL and ODBC methods, and it makes no difference on prepared statements, but it does on non-prepared, like it's not even getting to the connection stage. - Nice! Happy it works for you. Yeah I've tried without the quotes, but that still wasn't working. Not sure if I still had typos somewhere or whether it's do to with some specific server configurations; but for now I'm ok with just using the other parser functions.
