User talk:Apsdehal/GSoC2014 Proposal
Thanks for splitting to its own page. When you're ready, please pick a short title and move it outside user namespace. Also please wikify the text, you have weird newlines among other things.
In general: I see you propose to create a new extension. Extensions created with GSoC typically take years to start being used, or are never used at all. What alternatives did you consider to try build on existing work and have your feature gradually implemented in something existing, like an existing extension on Wikidata, or an existing tool/gadget/app? If you decide that there are no alternatives, consider that you will need to fight against many additional obstacles (learn Writing an extension for deployment by heart as first thing) and that you'll need to set up a test/prototype wiki (e.g. on Wikimedia Labs) where you and interested users will be able to try your code. --Nemo 11:08, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
- I see you're asking more opinions around on where to place this code, good. However, it seems to me that those we really need to have an opinion from are thepund.it folks: can this tool be integrated in their software? Is there a possibility to create plugins for their software? There are countless ebooks annotators by now, we're certainly not going to create another one. --Nemo 07:28, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
