Keywords (bazsimboloj)
function funkcitipa "Funkcio" is the litteral translation for function. Now in actual code, "function NAME()", the keyword is used within the implicit predicate "declare NAME as a function". In esperanto the affix -ig- means "make", and "tip-" means "type. So "funkcitipa" means "typed as function". And "funkcitipigu NAME" means "makes NAME as function type.

Note that "function" is a primitive in JS (primitiva/unua/baza/malderivajâ tipo)

return prireiru "reiru" enable a more consistant teminology with others jump instructions, but if the return statement comes with a returned value, to be gramaticaly valid in Esperanto the proposition "kun" (or "je") should be used, or one may use the prefix pri- to turn it into a transitive verb. Ŝalti also carry the same idea of moving to an other (instruction) place/location

Do "ŝoveksponenta" estas eble pli taŭga, sed egale pli longa. Kiel la dokumento egale proponas "alt" kiel uzado, tiu donus "ŝovalta".

static tujvoka static is almost a placeholder word in programming languages, what it stands for really depends of the context.

In C a static global scoped variable, have callable scope limited to the translation unit it's declared in : bloka / ĉirkaŭa / tradukunuaĵalirebla a "unit" is somewhat like of "module". While the translation "modulo" is proposed here and there, it is ambigous (mod-ul-o). "unuaĵo" is more faithful to unit, so one may say "unuaĵa" or even "unuaĵtrafa" (scope : traf/o). Also one may talk about "bloko" (or "peco"). As in English "block"generaly refer to a set of statement like {a=0;b=2+a;}, this false friend may create confusion, neithertheless one may use "(kod)ingo" for that kind of code gathering. So bloka should be fine. a static function, a static variable in a function, keeps its value between invocations : transvoka I C++/C#/Java a static attiribute of a class, shared value between all instances : klaskomuna a static method of a class, can only be called directly from the object class, not from an instance of the class : tujvoka / senpera / rektvokebla In javascript A method can be static in ECMA 2015, in the same sense as static method above

export elportu eks- usually means "which was but isn't anymore" in esperanto. On the other hand "elportu" employ the usual preffix "el-", to which respond "en". So elporti/enporti is a more coherent choice. Morever "im-" is not an usual prefix in esperanto, so "importi" is really a borrowing which doesn't allow to split word apart from etymological consideration. , eksporti, elhavigu

__defineGetter__ elsignildifinu Depending on the language, it might be better to translate "get" as "read" and "set" as "write" for get/set, one may use elsigni/alsigni. While they are not found in dictionary like PIV, one may find "asigni" in it. This one comes from a latin borrowing formed on "ad-" and "signo". The former can mean near, toward, to, tendency, or addition. So you may translate it "asigno" (think "aldoni", "aliri"). But here the topic is put in and take from : en- kaj el-.

Note that "get" is sometime used in method which not only give access to an encapsulated member with some additional control : it sometimes compute the whole value on the fly, that is there is no correspondant attribute declared in the class/object/type. In such a case, one shouldn't use get, but a verb which makes clear that the value is computed. toFixed fiksonsignilformdonu

transfikskomformu fikskomformu fikskomsignĉenigu fikskomigu

returns a string formatted using fixed point notation litere, tio estas "fikspunkta prezento" and some propose to use it as it

http://www.bertilow.com/div/komputada_leksikono/F.html#FIKSPUNKTA-PREZENTO Now, unlike English, the usage in Esperanto is to use a comma (not a point) to represent the decimal separator/mark. See http://bertilow.com/pmeg/gramatiko/nombroj/matematiko.html So it would already be more accurate to talk about "fikskoma prezento". Bavant in its "matematika vortaro" proposes "onkomo", while stating that he "elektis ĉi tiun ne tre kutiman terminon anstataŭ la pli oftaj „decimala komo“". But as said in the kompleks, that name "malfacilas uzi ekster la kunteksto de dekuma bazo. As both point and coma are used as character tool, on may talk about "signilo". And even "onsignilo". It have to be a "fixed" simbol, so "fiksonsignilo" And rather than "prezento" (or "reprezentado"), one may talk about "formo". Which gives "onsignilformo". Finaly the term which is searched here must mean "provide this", that can be rendered with "doni/liveri". So it end up with something like "fiksonsignilformdonu". fiksa, -on-, marko, -ilo, https://www.academia.edu/7296209/Matematika_vortaro_kaj_oklingva_leksikono_book_ http://www.reta-vortaro.de/revo/art/on.html#on.0punkto.komo

toExponential ĉefpotencformdonu

altformdonu eksponentformdonu transeksponentformdonu

returns a string formatted using exponential notation 2^3=8 may be read "du alt tri estas ok", so "alt" can be used as a short adverbial operation, like plus, minus, oble, one. Thus said "alt" may be perceived as reference to the writing usage where exponent is on the top of the line. An analyze of etymons may provide an other explanation : ex- "out of" and ponen "placed", so litteraly out of what was placed. That is, "out of the baze number". One may put that in perspective with the term root (as in rootsquare). Where the later operation provide "the root" of the number, "the exponent" rises it up, or makes it grow to stay in the dendrological (that is related to trees) terminology.

Now, quick etymological investigations won't provide much credits to such an analyze with historical correspondance. On the contrary, "exponent" seems really to be a tipographical metonymy. The operation is initialy named "power", that are translated "potenco/pontencigi". Finaly one should note that there are generaly not only one way to represent a given number with a given base. What this method return is most probably the number in the "normalized scientific notation" see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_notation So it would be more accurate to talk about "normaliga scienca potenca reprezentado". Or a bit less accuratly but in a shorter word "ĉefpotencformo", from ĉef-, potenco and formo.

Math matematiko

scio kono

In esperanto, the full name is "matematiko". As "mat’/mato" means "mat", it can't unambigously be used as such. The same apply to matem’/matemo, as -em- is an affixe wich means "tendency". And -at- is also a valid affix.

For something shorter, one may looks at the etymology of matematic : μαθηματικός (mathematikos) "relating to knowledge". So, in esperanto one may say "scirelata". Moreover μαθηματικός comes from μάθημα (máthēma) "knowlege, study, learning". So the apocope "math", is equivalent to reduce "scirelata" to "scio". So using "scio" is rather legitimate, even from a theory of knowledge consideration limiting knowledge to mathematics would be hard to defend. Also "scio" and "kono" could be both argued as being better suit to this situation

As for IS, some international symbol as sin, cos, and so on are present in dictionaries. One may take them as adverbial term for an operation, just as "plus", "minus" and so on. And as long as the symbol is prononcable, it can be assimilated as such. But some term like "arctg" can hardly be prononced /artstg/… arkkosinuso, arkokosinuso simbolo : arccos

Do tiuj du terminoj prefere restu parencaj nur etimologie. So here we want the equal or superior nearest value, that is "la egala aŭ supra polo" So despite the warning, let's give a chance to "(egal)suprpoli"

logarithm_e(x) This is the so called "natural" logarithm. Thus said, "natural" is really a vague term, just as informative as "-um-", the latter having both advantage to be shorter and to not give the impression that it is "more natural". As it's the most used logarithm, "ĉef-" may be apropriate, but wouldn't give more information on the function caracteristic ever. Saying that "f'(x) = 1/x" would be such a characteristic, but would be much to long to express in esperanto.

note that -um- is also used to name base of enumaration systems : binary -> duuma. So "log_2" would be rather accurately translated "duumlog". And so comes the term "ĉefumlog". Now as the base is prefixed to the operation, and the operator comes suffixed, "dulogtri" would be an unambigous notation for "log_2(3)", and shorter than a more explicit and accurate "dumlogigtri" (du,-um-, -log-, -ig-, tri) symbol : log, ln natura, logaritmo -ig-
