Although I have VE enabled in my preferences, the 'Edit' tab no longer appears when I edit individual pages but it still appears on transcluded pages. I use Firefox but have checked Edge and get the same result.

Please give Example of 'individual page'. Is that a question of page protection? or of user rights ?

I would use the visual editor here, as it's easier to work with tables this way, but the VE tab doesn't appear.
you must first create the page before you can edit it. Drafts are created as user sub pages. Namespace Page: seems strange for me.
