Can't restart translations!

Hello I have this problem that makes the translation tool impossible to use:

I can translate every (new) article from English to Persian. However if I wanted to expand one of my already translated articles that has been changed on the english version some time later, I always get the following message:

"This translation is based on older versions of the content. The source page may have changed significantly, and it may be a good idea to restart the translation."

Problem is, there is absolutely no way to "restart the translation" and I don't see any buttons whatsoever for doing so.. Even if I switch to "published translations" tab and delete the item, and start a new translation, it always loads the old content no matter what. The only solution I have found so far is to use a second account to load the new content and start a new translation but I don't think that is an optimal way to go... Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Thanks for the feedback, @پاندورا.

Translations in progress can get out of sync of the source article, and there is a known issue limiting the restart of a translation in some cases.

For the usecase you described (expanding an existing translation) we have been working recently on Section Translation. Although it is focused on mobile for now (desktop support planned for the upcoming months) you can try it on Persian Wikipedia to expand existing articles by translating a missing section.

This is an area in active development, so feedback is very welcome.

Thanks!

Hi,

I have the same problem.

I published a partial translation a few month ago.

Now I want to complete my previous work by extending the translation I made.

I have the same message described by پاندورا.

There's no way to restart the translation.

Thanks in advance.
