Hello,

does the Shift + Enter keyboard shortcut for break line doesn't exist any more?

Best regards,

Manuel

What happens when you type it?

MountainGoat92 (talkcontribs)

The same thing as when i type enter alone...

All other shortcuts work fine.

What kind of computer are you using? (Mac, Windows, Linux, something else?)

MountainGoat92 (talkcontribs)

Win 10 Professional, tried the different browsers too (Edge, Firefox, Chrome).

Every client in our company is showing the same behaviour.

We are running the MediaWiki 1.35 LTS with pre-installed visual editor.

I have done a bit of digging, but I haven't found the answer. There were a series of requests for that behavior a few years back (e.g., phab:T95518 and phab:T95605), and they were never officially implemented. Then it seems that it started working, and now it has stopped working. Could it be related to phab:T110986?

IHurbainPalatin (WMF) or others, do you happen to remember anything changing in Parsoid about line breaks, probably at least a couple of months ago?

We should probably open a new phab ticket for this. First step would be to determine (using the process in VisualEditor/Debugging#To inspect HTML) whether or not VE is sending back different HTML to parsoid in the "Shift-Enter" vs the "Enter" case. If the "Shift-Enter" isn't showing up in the HTML, then this is a Visual Editor bug. If there's different HTML for the two cases but Parsoid isn't rendering it properly, then it's a Parsoid bug.

(From the description from @Gamebird92 it sounds like a Visual Editor bug, aka you should see a hard line break as a different result in Visual Editor I believe, not "the same thing as when I type enter alone".)

As far as I remember, this has never been an implemented feature: @Gamebird92, are you sure you’re not confusing with another software?
