I am trying to log in to my page by writing localhost/mediawiki(while having apache and mysql started)but the page is not loading

is it white screen, or is it a cannot connect to host error?

For the former, enable php error reporting, see How to debug, for the latter, verify that apache is really running and configured to use port 80 (use netstat commend to verify that it really is). Also check apache error log.
