> The page displays a tutorial for first steps based on the link found on Q915263. This is our default configuration. You can also provide a link that is not listed on Wikidata.

Hello :) Are you sure that you want to see Q915263 not the Q3945?

This question is for @Trizek (WMF). He will be able to answer next week. Thanks for working on this!

Hello

We picked this link because it was the most used by our pilot wikis. A different link can be picked: like the descriptions says, it is the default, but you can provide a different link.

I'll add the WD item you suggest as an option.

Iniquity (talkcontribs)

Thanks :) Can you explain what, in your opinion, should be reflected in these first steps? :)

Trizek (WMF) (talkcontribs)

The Homepage links to a tutorial. You just need to pick the right one that would help people understanding what is Wikipedia and how to edit.

Iniquity (talkcontribs)

I know this :) I just thought you might be able to advise something, since we are rewriting the help pages.

Trizek (WMF) (talkcontribs)

Ha, sorry!

Well, I think the best option is to think about being in an elevator: you only have a few minutes between floors to explain to someone what is Wikipedia and how to edit it. How would you phrase it for someone who don't like to read? :)

It is up to you.

The English page is a step by step, with a lot of pages.

I think you should thunk about it with a fresh mind: maybe your option would be the right one!

Iniquity (talkcontribs)

Ok, thanks for the opinion :)

Hi, yes, I saw this page, thanks :) I have some doubts about using tabs on example pages. As far as I know, this is not the best user experience solution.

Trizek (WMF) (talkcontribs)

I'm interested about tabs. Which sources have you read that tell it is not a good thing?

Thank you! This will help further thinking about this, but no work is scheduled on help pages for now.

Tabs are one of the options suggested, even if I use them on example pages. In a perfect world, we would display the tab matching the editor people use. However, we aren't in a perfect world. :/

I also have no consensus with myself about tabs :) We have to think and test. But in general, I like the these page requirements.
