The first stage (the point at which people will stop accidentally creating broken signatures) could happen on the normal wikitech:Deployments train that will happen from Tuesday, June 30th to Thursday, July 2nd. The end of "grandfathering" (when invalid signatures will stop being added to pages) is at least several months from now.

What I'd really appreciate from you: Please tell your local communities about this, especially:

• your local Village Pump (technical) or similar tech forums,
• editors who follow your wiki's signature policy, and
• the people who will get questions about how to fix signatures.

I'll be making some general announcements, but specific messages to individuals and relevant pages would be helpful.
