Topic on Talk:Content translation

make the translation time limit

5
Summary by YTRK

Someone else is already working on the article one wants to translate.

→First, contact the user.

→As a last resort, it is possible to translate the article by copying the article you want to translate into your sandbox/subpage and translate that.

Note that this measure should only be taken if the user who is already working on it appears to be totally inactive and does not respond to your query.

hello and thank you for this great Feature

you need to make the translation a timer and make it limited because some pages which I want to translate is translating by a user

and that user has not translated the page for almost 2 months!!!!

pleas there are some major page which should be in my language

and this is kinda Necessary for this feature because if someone wants to troll and not letting anyone translate the specific pages ...you should find a way to ban this user and the best way is time limit

thank you

There is a function to delete old translations already. See https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T183890. In fact, there was a problem (Topic:Vluou81py2j9ga4q) three weeks ago that the translation had been deleted without prior warning.

I don't know what the article is, but if it is important, it's likely to be a pretty long one. Translations take time, and two months, frankly, is not really that long.

I suggest that you talk to him/her on his/her talk page.

the main problem is him/her will not visit their talk page (even visit Wikipedia)

actually many users like them don't care about Wikipedia and they won't see my message

but however, thank you for your help

Oh.

A way does exist to avoid the problem. You can copy the page content to a subpage of your user page and then translate that, apparently. (I haven't done it myself yet but I was recommended that when I encountered a similar conflict with my own translation) There's no grey link from the article, but you can start the translation from the new translation button inside the content translation tool.

I'll be marking this as solved. If there's any more problems, you can always reopen it.
