I fail to see how a broken edit to an (effectively) undocumented template on another wiki was an improvement.
Documentation can be done using {{Wikipedia doc}} (soon global template documentation is going to be more usual). It links to a page where you can find the word and understand how it is used. Just copy the documentation from Wikipedia (and, from my experience, remove paragraphs of Wikipedia-specific information) instead of directing users to another wiki.
