I fail to see how a broken edit to an (effectively) undocumented template on another wiki was an improvement.

Documentation can be done using {{Wikipedia doc}} (soon global template documentation is going to be more usual). It links to a page where you can find the word and understand how it is used. It could be improved. But before any effort. Are you ready for change to improve Mediawiki?. I could do my best (and you also). BoldLuis (talk) 22:13, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

Just copy the documentation from Wikipedia (and, from my experience, remove paragraphs of Wikipedia-specific information) instead of directing users to another wiki.

I would prefer to use a global template. Easier, more useful and quicklier. If the user accounts are global, user templates woud be global, also.
