I want translate page Manual:Configuration_settings, but it use old system localization for now (without Translate). I can do prepare it, but I don't know how to do correctly. How is right procedure for it, what do you use?

It is too complex to prepare correctly.

I know. Yet I am interested in the optimum procedure. Personally, I would solve it by temporarily moving the localized pages, preparing the default page in English for translation, and then gradually inserting the translated messages.

Additionally, most of variable descriptions are already translated. e.g. Manual:$wgServerName/ja.

They should be reused. There is no need to re-translate.

Ten months later, I've converted the page to automatically extract its content from the individual manual pages on variables, as you suggested.

Did you add/change sections? The "section=" parameter of the corresponding variables should be updated. For example, Manual:$wgExtPGNewFields's section is "Extensions", but it should be "Extension fields".

Sections are also defined in Template:SettingSummarySection for translation.

Sorry, I didn't realize sections were defined anywhere other than in the actual wikitext of Manual:Configuration settings, so I just applied my own judgement as to where configuration settings should go.

Yes Done, and I also cleaned up a ton of pre-existing section mismatches.

Great!!
