unable to figure out how to link a superscript to a reference. no response necessary. I'm just hoping the guide can be revised to clarify this.

Hey @Perk1329, I'd like to understand better what you're referring to, maybe an example would help. (I tried this edit, but I'm almost certain you mean something else!)

@Elitre (WMF) looking at their contributions, I see they were asking how to make their first regular reference. I haven't looked at the VE guide lately, so I'm not sure what (if anything) should be improved there.

@Perk1329 if you look at this edit you can see how I made a basic reference. It works just like <sup>text</sup>, but you fill in the reference information. The numbering is automatic. Like this:

<ref>Enter a web address or text description or anything you want here.</ref>

And here is what it produces:[1]

You can see how I made a much nicer reference in this edit. In the wikitext editor I clicked CITE, then TEMPLATES then CITE_WEB. Clicking the icons for magnifying glass and calendar will (usually) automatically fill in all the info you need. It is similar in Visual Editor.
