Trouble with refs from Pt --> En

Hello! Every time I try to translate an article from Portuguese to English, the tool completely ignores all references and I end up having to add them manually, which is quite annoying for bigger pages. I tried to add them with the "add reference" button (you know, when you click the ref in the source content and than add it wherever you want in the new page), but it still won't work. It happened with wikipedia:Unlikely and wikipedia:Montão de Trigo Island, to name a few. I didn't try the "add reference" button with them because I only discovered it a few hours ago, but I tested it by translating a random page to my personal English Wikipedia sandbox and it didn't work.

I also made a bad experience with the sandbox. The reason is, the content translation tool still seems to keep the translated article related to its origin. Whenever this is true, the revision history would much likely be used to maintain an older translation later, depending which of the articles got more contributions after the translation. The sandbox does not fit that philosophy due the sandbox stores not the same article which is a fundamental change to the sandbox page. I am playing with the idea, to have my sandbox to be deleted by an administrator to create a new sandbox with another page ID. Maybe this would solve the problem.

Nobody here seems to be giving a damn about it, but it won't hurt to add that now, every time I translate an article from en to pt, the tool fails to fetch every <ref name="example" />. Only the main occurrence of the source (in which all its details are included) is successfully included in the translation. The rest must be added manually, which is almost as dull as the problem I've been trying to report here for the past three months.

In the source article before beginning a translation, temporary remove the dots "." from references due the reference text is being cut before the last dot.

Victor Lopes, I am sorry for the inconvenience. Same problem occurred, when I translate the article de:Madman Muntz. (see its revision history)

Sorry about the very long delay in replying... I missed it somehow.

I reported it as a task here: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T184940

I can't promise to fix it soon, because references are complicated, but we do ahave a plan to fix it some day.
