This page could welcome some indications about the infrastructure to use for translations. I have been requested to translate urgently an announcement in a Google Doc. It's not the first time. Is this a recommended way to proceed?

I don't think so. Putting a message here or on Meta and marking it to be translated is probably good when more than a few languages are involved; however, when it comes to announcements, I like to tweak them a lot so that they are in my own voice, or anyway more relevant to the audience. The Translate system basically wants us to translate literally, and that doesn't necessarily work well all the time. I'd say that if you want a translation you should make it easy for the translators to work where it's easier for them/accept the method they pick.
