What is the current way to translate templates? We have {{Citar web}} over at ptwiki and translations currently come with {{cite web}} templates. This incur in significant post-translation work to identify parameters to be translated (specially dates) and also makes use of a locally depracated template. Is there a way to change what templates are used in the translation? Chico Venancio (talk) 14:14, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

See Content translation/Templates. Does this help?

Can you please check that all the parameters in the Portuguese template are mapped to the English template using TemplateData?

Chicocvenancio (talkcontribs)

Thanks, I'll check that out.

Seems at least part of the problem was a malformed json in the templatedata. Let's see if this fixes that.

Thanks a lot for the comment! Please update me. I am very interested in knowing whether this helps.

@Ixocactus,can you please try adding aliases for English parameters to the TemplateData in the Portuguese Wikipedia? I did it as an example in this edit.

I'll do that. Thanks for answering I had tried but couldn't find a reason for that template failing translation.
