You can certainly write RTL in the visual editor. Here on mw.org, you can change the input method from the menu that pops up when you click on the language displayed next to your username, at the very top of the page.
It looks like the visual editor is working out for you on the Farsi Wikipedia. Did you get a chance to try it again on Meta? You can label the language that you're using in the character styles menu (same menu as bold and italics), which is handy if you want a user page that has more than one language on it.
