Should be able to save and use the normal "modify" tool before publishing

I have met some of the bugs other users complain of. No problem, the tool is very useful anyway. But it would be very useful to save it in a temporary (not published) file so that one can "clean the mess" with ordinary functions. As I am a newcomer and i may have missed something (too many topics to read them all) only two questions:

- my first translation was from Spanish into Italian, the automatic translator worked OK. In the second (English to Italian) apparently there is no autotranslate. Cannot believe it exists from Spanish and not from English. Am I overlooking something?

- From a certain point on, clicking on "add translation" (actually adding the original text, as there is no autotranslate) operates not on the current paragraph but two or three paragraphs below. And some images cannot be copied. Any hint?

Thank you very much

Hi,

Thanks for the kind words.

It's usually OK to publish directly to the main space. If you are concerned about the formatting, you can publish to your user space by changing the target title to "User:Frigio55/TITLE", making the necessary changes, and then moving (renaming) to the main space.

Machine translation from English to Italian is not enabled yet, but will be enabled some time soon (although I don't have a precise date yet).

Also, I'm not sure about the other problem with the paragraphs. Which article were you translating when this happened?

Frigio55 (talkcontribs)

it is "Scotland in the High Middle Ages". After trying (uselessly) to fix a problem with citations (the section has been moved in a wrong position and it is incomplete) I've decided to publish the partial translation and to work directly on it.

Yet I still have a problem with the citations table: references have been partially copied, but not all of them and I don't know how to ling the numbers to the citations. Of course I could just delete them all, but it would be a pity...

Any suggestion will be welcome.

Thank you for your time

Great, I can't wait until English-Italian MT is available! Just curious -does that also include Italian-English, or is it only monodirectional?

Italian-English will possibly be enabled some day, too, but separately.

You can try the GoogleTrans gadget, which allows the 10,000 language pairs that Google translation supports to work with the Content Translation System. Consult [1] for help on this. It will do the language pair you wish to use that Apertium doesn't.It will also translate tables and keep the html, which Wikipedia content MT translation doesn't seem to do.

Machine translation is now available for Italian. More details in this ticket.
