Equation formatting is not shown properly

I observed that the text formatting is not shown properly in the hovercard. Text to be shown is formatted as "<math>X</math>". Instead of applying the effects of this markup or ignoring it, the markup tag is displayed as "X {\displaystyle X}". I uploaded an image demonstrating the problem here.

Thank you all for your efforts.

Thank you for letting us know! I have documented the issue here: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T141766

for our team to prioritize and fix. If it is part of a larger issue it will be a higher priority (but maybe harder to fix)...if it is just a one-off case, it might be prioritized a little lower. Right now, our team is pausing on most hovercard development while we analyze the results of what happens when we make them default for users (a live test on Hungarian Wikipedia).

Another, simpler case is when the linked section includes brackets. These appear to be dropped on the hovercard. That is understandable for parenthetical text, but can be completely incorrect when linking to a maths-based article. For example the hovercard for Pronic number shows "... of the form n", rather than "... of the form n(n+1)". Almonaster (talk) 13:55, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
