I'm not sure if this is the correct place to report this, but thought you'd like to know in the event it hasn't been previously reported.

Not sure I understand, is there a page/link that you can point to where you see the issue, or include a screen shot?

Extension:Poem is used in a number of different places, not just for "poems". E.g. we use it to enclose the IRC office hours logs, onwiki, e.g. m:IRC office hours/Office hours 2014-10-15. Because it preserves all formatting, whilst retaining working hyperlinks and internal links. (In contrast to the other limited formatting options)

Links within a poem section work with hovercards (tested here). So I guess Ed is having problems getting Extension:TextExtracts to pull text out of a poem section?

Ed, where (and how often) do <poem>s occur within the beginning of a page's content? Thanks.
