Topic on Extension talk:Semantic Text Annotator

Thanks for this, Oliver. Although I haven't been able to test this so far, I do have a couple of preliminary comments/questions:

  • Is this extension an example of what is sometimes referred to as "stand-off annotation" - annotation made from the outside, as it were, rather than provided inline?
  • A comment recently made on Extension talk:Semantic Image Annotator is also relevant here: it would be good if more than one custom form could be used for different kinds of texts and probably even for the same text. In the context of using source texts for teaching Latin, for example, you could have a form for commenting on syntax and grammar (linking to relevant pages through SF's autocompletion), another for the use of diction, and another for intertextuality, etc.
  • Could you add the namespace to Extension default namespaces?

I would like to see this applied one day to texts that have been marked up in TEI/XML if and when there is sufficient support for this in MediaWiki. I'm jumping ahead here I'm afraid, but "a man's gotta dream", as they say.
