How to title my pages? Looking for a good methodic...

I'm creating a new wiki, including many categories. (Its inside my intranet, so I can't show it to you, sorry!)

But I've got a problem with entitling my pages: For example my first category is called "vehicles". It includes pages like "car", "plane" and "bike". In my second category I'd like to give examples for different vehicles. Because pages like "car", "plane" and "bike" already exist, I have to choose other titles. So I'll name them "example of cars" "example of planes" and "example of bikes". But I've got another problem now: Listing all pages in this category, you'll find everything sorted by the first letter. So all pages begin with "E - example of ...". That isn't very nice and not useful.

How can I solve it?

My first idea was creating namespaces, so I can create more pages with the same name. But I don't want to create a namespace for every category. Have you got another idea?

Thank you

Thanks, but this solution isn't the best way. The sites are sorted by the given parameter, but the title is still "example of..."

I need a solution other than namespaces for creating many pages with the same name.

Can you help me?

Hi

To keep pages is alphabetical order why don't you have for example "Cars examples" or "Car types" instead of "example of cars". I do this all the time. So long as the first word of the title is the same it will appear in the same group. I have category "Cases" under that category I have groups of categories. You can also assign a page to more than one category. I have for example under cases:

Cases - Bad character
Cases - Bad character 2005
Cases - Bad character 2006
Cases - Bad character 2007
Cases - Bad character 2008
Cases - Bad character 2009
Cases - Bad character 2010
Cases - Bad character 2011
Cases - Bad character 2012

Each of the above categories includes many cases.

PS: You can also use subcategories: See: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Category#Subcategories

Hi To keep the pages alphabetical is not the main problem. The problem is, that I can't create many pages with the same name. Here is another example:

- Holiday home New York (category)

 > kitchen
 > roof
 > cellar

- Holiday home Moscow (category)

 > kitchen
 > roof
 > cellar

- Holiday home Berlin (category)

 > kitchen
 > roof
 > cellar

- ... - ...

Thanks

Hi

I am not sure that I understand what you are trying to do. Why would you want to create multiple pages with the name in your example 'Kitchen'? The 'kitchen' would be either specific to one 'Holiday home' or 'kitchens' generally?

If you wanted you could link different subheadings/sections using http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Tip_of_the_day/August_26,_2006.

Cheers

I'm not sure, too :-)

In my example every holiday home get its own category. In this category I need a seperate page like "kitchen" for every holiday home. Every page with different content. But I cannot create two pages with the same name "kitchen". Of course, I can create namespaces, but it's a roundabout way to create namespaces for maybe 200 houses...

Is there any other solution to solve this?

Hi

I think that I may be understanding what you are trying to achieve, well maybe! If I am right then you could create a page for every holiday home under the category 'Kitchens'. For example 'Kitchen 32nd Street New York USA'. Then you could include a link to that page in the page named 'Holiday Home 32nd Street New York USA'. You can make the link in the page like so: Kitchen the link will take you to the page re kitchen for that holiday home.

The link is made like this: [[Kitchen 32nd Street New York USA | Kitchen] you need another ]
