Toolserver:Operators/Rules

From mediawiki.org

This page was moved from the Toolserver wiki.
Toolserver has been replaced by Toolforge. As such, the instructions here may no longer work, but may still be of historical interest.
Please help by updating examples, links, template links, etc. If a page is still relevant, move it to a normal title and leave a redirect.

In addition to the normal Toolserver-Rules all operators have to follow the following rules. If in doubt about a rule ask a root.

  • The main tasks of an operator is to
    • help normal users,
    • keep the server running.
  • It is NOT the job of an operator to control or punish users.
  • You will only access the home of an user if the user asked you before.
  • You will inform an user about all actions that affects the user.
  • You will always be friendly and respectful to users.
  • You will stay away from non-userland-servers, especially database-servers.
  • You will stay away from password-files.
  • You will never extend your rights or those of another user with the following exceptions:
    • You are allowed to give sysop-rights to trusted users in this wiki.
  • You are allowed to enforce the rules about bots.

All commands you run (successful or not) will be logged. Roots may control your actions from time to time.
