why do you perceive opening multiple tabs as inefficient?

If one doesn't use a fast browser or have a fast internet connection, that might do it. Obviously that's speculation, but personally, since I use a fast browser and have a horrific internet connection, I find multiple tabs to be about as efficient as anything gets - open things (up to, oh, 40 or so) in the background so they're done loading when I actually go to deal with them... especially useful around here since a lot of the js doesn't activate until after everything loads, too.
