Have you tried http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Vector?

I´ve tried adding this to LocalSettings.php (my mediawiki 1.18.1:)

require_once( "$IP/extensions/Vector/Vector.php" );

But nothing happens. I can't get the collapsible menus. Should I use some special tag in the MediaWiki:SideBar ?

Verify the vector extension is installed correctly by checking for it being listed at Special:Version on your wiki. Also check for any js errors in your browsers javascript console, which could potentially interfere with the extension.

You do not need any special tag in MediaWiki:Sidebar, the collapse feature should happen automatically upon enabling that extension.
