Discussion?

[edit]

Was there a discussion about creating this? It's quite big and has been added to dozens of pages just after creation. I'd love to participate in that discussion if it exists so I can understand who it's for and why. Jdforrester (WMF) (talk) 16:17, 5 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi JDforrester,
To answer your question:
  • I needed this template for me personally to figure out whom to contact about these projects whose pages I added it to. Particularly OOjs and Parsoid as I am using them in my scripts and I could not figure out where to get help! That has been an interesting gap to find.
  • Before adding the template to OOjs and OOjs UI pages I had asked about the accuracy of the template info on IRC and a couple people from the relevant Team were ok with it (I think it was #mediawiki-visualeditor connect where I asked, if memory serves).
  • About Parsoid pages - it was an interesting step to take, as there's so many subpages and there is no tree view of them like the OOjs UI page has. I think there was only about 6 Parsoid subpages I tagged out of more than 50, and I tried to choose ones which were most readable or interesting. I think it was my intention to follow-up on the process afterwards (which I have not done in any way or form at present).
Are there any particular points you would like to raise? This page would be a good place to do so.
It is up to other projects to add (or not add) this template to their pages at their discretion.
I am sure there are ways to improve this template. :-) Gryllida 02:26, 6 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Overall I like the idea behind the template. Maybe it's a little visually big, but it can be boldly adjusted :)
As a note, I do like that it is at the bottom of the page, rather than the phabricator project top icon indicator or the obnoxious reading team maintained extension notice. Legoktm (talk) 02:31, 6 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
