todo[edit]

nice unix commands cheatcheet, cc-by-sa 3.0, should be nice to add to tswiki.
copy help pages to tswiki.
Add unreplicated tables and entries, add toolserver database tables.

SQL queries[edit]

What's acceptable to run as an SQL query?? is changing a signature used to impersonate an individual a good enough reason to request a query?? Thanks, AP aka --Kelsington 13:24, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm failing to see how a SQL query would help in that situation. Could you be more precise in what you want to do? Kylu 22:08, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

SQL queries[edit]

I've filed a new SQL query request for changing my email address, please look into it. Thanks, AP aka --Kelsington 12:50, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Given the vagueness of the request, I'm inclined to attempt to answer the question in multiple ways:
  1. Where is it? If you mean to leave a query request, typically they're left on JIRA, though I certainly do accept database queries here as long as they're reasonable.
  2. If you mean to change your email on a wiki (in general), it's best to go to special:preferences on that wiki. It's easier for the software to keep track of changes if the user does it via the interface, plus you can verify the changes immediately and correct them if there's an error.
  3. If you mean to change your email on this wiki or on Toolserver SSO, it can be done if you can't do it, but it requires access by a toolserver admin with LDAP access (check special:listusers for someone with crowd-administrator access. here's a shortcut for you)
  4. If you mean to change your email on the Wikipedia servers, you really should consider using special:preferences there. If this is absolutely not an option, you can try to request it on IRC to the shell-users, if you'd like. Visit irc.freenode.net channel #wikimedia-tech if you'd like to discuss this with them, or alternatively you can file a bug request at Bugzilla. Note that this is not likely to succeed. I'm afraid that query-service users such as myself simply don't have the permissions to change your user preferences.
  5. If it's elsewhere, such as a wiki that I have steward or shell access to, please let me know and we can discuss the specifics.
I do hope that's of use to you. Kylu 01:38, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
  • It's for my account on en.wiki as I can't remember my email address that my password got sent to. Thanks for the advice. Thanks, AP aka --Kelsington 10:25, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
