Beta broken at the moment

Testing at https://en.wikipedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/Talk:Cats
If I tap Edit, New Section, or a section-edit link, it gives me Internal Error with a backtrace. The box for composing a reply works, but generates an exception when I tap the Reply button to publish/commit.

- It appears to be working again. Usually, when the Beta Cluster is down, it's just for a few minutes to a few hours. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 20:13, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
- It looks like you've been testing at the French Wikipedia. How is it working out for you? Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 20:14, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
- I think I commented somewhere at the time, but I retested more recently and it seems to be behaving well for straightforward cases. If we wrap the date stamp in a <time> element as discussed at phab:T234966, then the detection logic will need to be adjusted. But no problems with usability at this stage, except the @-mention is not obvious until you discover it. We'll learn that soon enough, or someone will write a help doc. If there won't be a đ€ button for linking people, then maybe aâbutton for how-to/cheat-sheet? On Phab I'm always using the đ book buttton to remind myself how to do things in Remarkup. - Would you mind copying this to Talk:Talk pages project/Replying/2020/04#h-Design_feedback:_version_2.0_mockups-2020-04-04T00:15:00.000Z? I don't think the designer is watching this thread. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 23:06, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
Done (at least the bit about the hint button). Pelagic (talk) 09:09, 10 May 2020 (UTC)
- Good to know that Beta glitches are usually short-lived. In future I'll wait before posting. Pelagic (talk) 10:09, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
-- Nemo Discuter 16:24, 3 March 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for this note. I don't know if the Editing team will be able to do everything we want, but they have considered the "permalink" problem. It should be easier to find discussions even if they're moved to another page (such as an archive).
- I don't think they've talked about a "summary" feature yet. At the English Wikipedia, that seems to mostly be handled with templates like w:en:Template:Archive top with a
|result=, but then the discussion stops, too. Sometimes here at MediaWiki.org, I use the summary feature to add partial information, and then we keep talking. Also, you have to know that the template exists, and what it's called on that wiki. You can't just figure it out by clicking on everything in the interface. Talk pages to test
[edit]Are there talk pages you think the team should consider testing the Replying feature on? If so, please share a link to these page(s) in this thread.
The team is primarily interested in links to talk pages that:
- Show the conventions (e.g. indentation syntax, templates) people on your wiki typically use to communicate
- Show talk pages with particularly large or complex conversations
These links will be helpful in increasing the likelihood the Replying tool works properly on your wiki. PPelberg (WMF) (talk) 23:14, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Usedtobecool recommended testing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Teahouse I've seen (separate) comments from three Teahouse regulars that User:Enterprisey/reply-link fails fairly often for them. The enwiki Teahouse is a long but usually simple page. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 16:48, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
- +1 for the Teahouse ToBeFree (talk) 22:56, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- I was inspired by User:JzG's comments on enwiki (section after this one) to test a very long talk page (half a million bytes, >1000 separate comments) where User:Enterprisey's replylinks wasn't working. It took about 20 seconds to save the change, but it worked. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 17:24, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
- I think c:Commons:Abuse filter as well as c:Commons:Help desk would be good places to test, if ever the tool comes to Wikimedia Commons (preferably as an opt-out tool to existing users, and default for new users). I'm excited at the progress of this project! Pandakekok9 (talk) 06:52, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_COVID-19 I get an error message when I try to use the tool, saying 'The "reply" link cannot be used to reply to this comment. To reply, please use the full page editor by clicking "Edit source".' Valereee (talk) 11:08, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
- This is caused by the green background on the page. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 19:56, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
