Questions[edit]

@Cscott: I notice it uses [[Figure:Foobar.jpg|200px]], rather than [[File:Foobar.jpg|200px]]. Is this proposed in another RFC?

Also, this is a basic question, but is this proposing to crop the images, scale them without preserving aspect ratio, or just construct a square container element around a (potentially rectangular) image? Superm401 - Talk 01:33, 16 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, the [[Figure..]] was just a typo --- Parsoid uses <figure> in its output HTML so I often get these crossed in my head.
Right now it is just scaling the image, preserving aspect ratio, such that it fits inside the given square box. The actual resulting container isn't square -- that is, we don't lead extra whitespace at the top/sides. There is a different bug somewhere that requested a 'crop' mode, but I'm not touching that at the moment; it would require more backend work with the WP scalers, cache infrastructure, etc. cscott (talk) 18:30, 16 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
