About giving feedback

Please read Reading/Web/PDF Functionality and comment on the plans we lay out there, to tell us what you need from the PDF service. We're especially interested in what you need in the future that doesn't exist in the plans laid out there – if there's a bug with something that should work right now (e.g. you get an error message when you try to create a PDF), we need to fix it, of course, but that would have been on the agenda.

Update: (23 April 2018) PediaPress will take over the development of the books-to-PDF functionality. See Reading/Web/PDF Functionality for more information.

Updates: (24 February 2018)

- Kerning and spacing issues (https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T178665): there has been a few reports on spacing issues within PDF rendering. The readers web team is currently looking into a solution. We will first be updating the fonts for PDFs (https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T181200) over the week of November 27. This will resolve some but not all of the spacing issues. We'll be looking further into the remaining issues after the initial fix.

"Infortunadamente" in Spanish is a term not common used

In the spanish translate says "infortunadamente", I believe that in the oficial RAE dictionary don´t exist as so, is more correct "desafotunadamente" 81.40.154.158 (talk) 16:57, 1 October 2018 (UTC)

This works ok for me in the UK. The PDF works with Adobe Acrobat XR and reads in the Musical notes fine. Window 10 Professional 109.149.172.209 (talk) 17:04, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

I am in the US and DL as pdf often does not work or takes several minutes to produce the document or times out.

It is incredible to me that in this day and age, and with the importance of Wikipedia and the resources it has, this is not simply fixed once and for all.

This has been going on for more than a year and if the Wikipedia team can't fix it themselves, they should have a public contest to make a working solution and take off that mind boggling "we have problems with pdf" notice.

I suspect you overestimate the resources Wikipedia has in relation to the tasks at hand. The PDF development is not where we lag behind the most in relation to where we would prefer to be, development-wise. Johan (WMF) (talk) 08:12, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

PDF download worked many times without any problems, since years, till now. My systems in use are linux mint 18.3 and sometimes WindowsXP., and I read in the german Wikipedia.

There is no need to need to shout. It is probably just that, a network error. I can download just fine. Check your firewall and other security settings in case they are preventing pdf downloads from Wikipedia. Otherwise, try again in a few hours, as in my experience these kinds of thing can occur randomly on a busy network and often clear themselves. Steelpillow (talk) 18:16, 16 December 2018 (UTC)

I got in the left margin twice the option download article as PDF. One works, the other gives an error with a link to this page. I made some screen shots as well as RTF-files. If you're interested I can e-mail them to you.  Klaas `Z4␟` V:  15:30, 26 May 2019 (UTC)

Arabic Wikipedia extension

At all! When you click on create a book, then start, the template is not loaded on the page. It's weird because on Arabic Wikisource at least the template is loaded. So I assume, it's not a right to left issue. Helmoony (talk) 14:24, 15 October 2018 (UTC)

I saved the book in Wikipedia. I also, fortunately, downloaded most of the pages to this computer.

Sometimes, but not always, there is a banner near the top of the page that asks "add this page to your book?" I add the page and the counter rises by one to show how many pages are in my book, In this case, the book, titled something like "FRENETTER - (a tale of Mississippi), disappeared after I added 10 or more pages.. I am finding it hard to find any record. Without the exact page name I cannot check if it has been deleted. Also, there has never been a user called Ascjames on the English Wikipedia. Eine Seite als PDF dauert lange und das Ergebnis sieht verbesserbar aus

Ich habe versucht, die folgende Seite (WP:100) herunterzuladen. Abgesehen davon, dass es unerwartet lange dauert, bis die 4 Seiten fertig sind, gibt es auf Seite 2 mehrere Seltsamkeiten - im ersten Auftauchen des Satzes, wann die Wahlordnung in Kraft trat, fehlen Leerzeichen, in der Titelangabe zur Veranstaltung in 2018 scheint ein Komma zuviel zu sein. Ist das hier die richtige Stelle, um das zu melden? Keine Ahnung, ich versuche es einfach mal. IvaBerlin (talk) 11:56, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

Angabe eines Datums?

Ich fände es sehr hilfreich, eine Info zu bekommen, wann die Funktion angefangen wurde zu überarbeiten. Ich finde nur die Info "Wir(??) arbeiten hart daran, das zu überarbeiten" - ich finde es merkwürdig, wenn ich dann in der "mehr erfahren"-Seite lese, dass da seit Mitte August nichts mehr passiert zu sein scheint. Aber vielleicht war/ist ja anderes wichtiger?

Es gibt gut fuer mich. Es oeffnet automatisch in mein web browser. Vielleicht haben Sie eine probleme mit euer network oder browser. (It works OK for me.
