VE contrast[edit]

I don't know who Max is but his comment "Max: An important difference between Discovery and Visual Editor is that community actively opposed VE. In our case, they are opposed to stuff that we aren’t actually doing." is not really right, if you consider the stage we are at I'd say the situation is the opposite. The community wanted a visual editor for years before the WMF were willing or in a position to fund such a development. At least on the English Wikipedia Visual Editor annoyed people because it was rolled out too early from Beta test, and it still hasn't recovered from that premature rollout. By contrast the community weren't lobbying for a search engine and didn't know about the knowledge engine till it became this secret project that led to Doc James departure. So a comparable stage of V/E would be after the WMF had finally agreed to do what the community wanted and set some staff to write a visual editor, but before there was any code to test.
