Hi, I translated articles en:Rast Goftar and en:Vasantavilas to Gujarati in last two days. Everytime, I am facing issues in citing references. The references, which are being cited, are neither translated nor kept as they are. Just random words are coming as references. It takes too much time in fixing every reference. Please address this.
Hi. I use the translate tool a lot, and the same problems keep happening in my case (english wiki to portuguese wiki).
Problem 1:
- I translate an article, insert categories of portuguese wiki, save and leave. When I come back latter, and publish the article, the categories I inserted come like this "Category:Primeiros-ministros do Egipto". This is wrong. The word "category", in english, should never be there, and it keeps happening.
Problem 2:
- I start translating an article, and it soon reaches a point where I get a message that someone (me) is already translating it, and from that moment on, I cant continue translating it. It still shows in my list of translations in progress, but I cant continue it neither delete it... it's just sitting there... without letting me doing anything.
Problem 3:
- I often start translating the Introduction of the article, ignoring the Infobox above. Every change I do to the text, the page scrolls up by its own, forcing me to scroll down again. I then continue to do something, and it keeps scrolling up...
Hello Tuga1143,
I apologise for these issues you are having with the content translation tool; the language team is currently working to resolve these bugs as soon as possible. Thank for notifying us.
On behalf of the WMF Language team.
Hello @UOzurumba (WMF), thank you so much. If you guys need some screenshots or video recording of the problems, just tell me! Kind regards, Tuga1143 (talk) 14:16, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

Thank you Tuga1143 for offering to provide a screenshot or a video. However, I don't think it will be necessary for now.
I did some translating from English to Dutch, clicked "Publish", it shows "Publishing" (in Dutch), then nothing happens anymore.
Left the page, and started again. Found that my work was still there, and this time I was able to publish.
I am translating my english wiki article into Indonesian and Thai, and it keeps saying my translation contains 71% of unchanged text! I actually localized and edited all the english texts into respective languages, so i find this very odd. What should i do?
You can ignore it by clicking on V.
I translate from en to vi.
Today I see the error of literally double "Category" at the end of the translated page.
For example:
Category:1950 deaths
is translated into
Thể loại:Thể loại:Mất 1950
which is literally
Category:Category:1950 deaths.
Please fix it, it just happened today, not yesterday. Thank you.
@Tuanminh01 Hello, kindly indicate the article you worked on in enwiki, and translated viwiki article: please open its History tab, and open the first version of your translation output using CX2. Copy and paste its url into your reply here. Thank you in advance.

Tuanminh01 hello, FYI, I experimented Article name: Phakant for en-ja translation with CX2, on iOS 13.5.1 Safari:
- Categories are handled as normal and they are enclosed between <nowiki> tags to disfunction till the editor will proofread in the page namespace. Interesting article you pointed me to, thank you.
I encounter that error while using Firefox 79 64-bit on my laptop.
I have AWB and use find&replace function to correct that problem in all our viwiki's translated articles, so you can take all time you need.
An identical problem has been reported in the same language pair by Bluetpp (talk · contribs) at Topic:Vqcmog0gojx5vab8.
Well the same happened to me, for example: see and . It translate twice (sometimes this happening, and sometimes this not happening).
@Euro know, your examples are Macedonian to Hebrew and English to Hebrew? Are there other language pairs where the problem occured?
I had thought that this was a problem only in Vietnamese, but it seems that it also occurs on at least Hebrew.
@YTRK, I think that it may happen in all languages. I'll try to find more pairs. Another problem that I found is that when you create an article by this tool from language A to language B, there is not automatic connection by Wikidata (you can do it only by hand).
I suppose so.
The latter problem is another bug unless that is you are publishing the article as a draft, I think. Could you report it on a new thread with the details (language pair, article name, and the like).
@YTRK, the same pairs that I said before (mk-he pair and en-he pair).
After Edit: I think it's more global problem because i saw the same with de-he pair .
@Euro know I had meant in a new topic? I've created one at Topic:Vqmdv7luji6g0jog, so you may want to watch that and comment if there are anything else to add. Which problem is it that you are saying you have found in de-he translation also?
@YTRK, the same problem that I said in the last problem
Thanks for the clarification.
yo también tuve este problema, al traducir "Turn Down For What" de enwiki a eswiki
It's been reported before: Topic:Vpd71jhbpl4qsjyp
I have started translating an article and google translate has done a pretty decent job but then , I get this error saying that " it's 91% untranslated!"
Why????
I fixed Google's mistakes.
what should I do? re-type everything?
You don't need to re-type everything
so what should I do?
You can ignore it by clicking on the V.
When you want to publish an article after translation ...
the pastille remains on "Publication in progress ..." indefinitely ... without any error message!
By interrupting this loop; the recovery gives the same result!
Do you have an idea.? ~~~~
Quand l'on veut publier un article après traduction ....
la pastille reste sur "Publication en cours..." indéfiniment ... sans aucun message d'erreur !
En interrompant cette boucle ; la reprise donne le même résultat !
Avez-Vous une idée.? RuB (talk) 19:56, 22 January 2021 (UTC) (Trad: '''Natalie Whitford Uhl''' ==> En>Fr )
I always restart the page (Ctrl+F5) when I want to publish my translate. After that, I'm pubilshing it.
I'm trying to translate "Lactarius subdulcis" (en to es). I'm not sure if related to infobox (which I'm unsure if will be translated, translation of infoboxes always was a problem, should let me the alternative to create it on destination language if it's not there) but as soon I try to fix some problems of the automated translation the scroll keeps jumping to the top of the document. The document jump back and forth from where I'm typing to the top, so I have to practically blindly type everything and then scroll to the section to see if everything went fine. Something odd is that this happens only on the first paragraph, on all the other sections of the document scroll doesn't jump to the top.
Hi!
For help your, need more information.
When reporting a bug, it will help us a lot if you will indicate the following things:
- Which article were you translating and to which language
- Which browser did you use (Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera, etc.)
- If you're getting any errors, please provide log from browser console if possible. To open browser console: press Ctrl+Shift+j (or cmd+alt+J () on a Mac).
In case you are familiar with Phabricator, please consider reporting a bug there.
I was translating Lactarius subdulcis from English to Spanish (en to es), with Chrome 85.
Next time I'll add the relevant console log.
It's not clear to me when I should post the issue here and when directly on Phabricator.
HI! If Your place issue in Phabricator, you don't need place here.
With respect
Same problem here. I'm using Chrome browser in Windows 10, translating en→ko.
when I write a word for translating long document, often scroll jumping. this problem occured seems from 3 months ago.
I hope solve this problem as soon as possible.
I'm having that problem too. I'm on Chrome browser, translating en - ms and it happens on all articles I'm translating. It's been like this for months on all computers I have, even my father's new laptop.
Hope this stops soon.
Now another report at Topic:Vuvnj636yg95jvf8.
I have the same problem.
I ran into the same issue, both with the infobox (it just doesn't transfer at all, but doesn't let me rewrite it manually) and with scrolling. English > Czech.
Yeah same problem, using Chrome, translating en - zh.
i also have the same problem while translating from EN to AR
Same in mk-he pair, en-he pair and ru-he pair. it was also discussed in Topic:Vqd4fylflccu6oyo
Thanks, the topic you linked suggests this is already worked on, see Phabricator.
