Is there a reason why this is in mainspace rather than the Extension: namespace? Leucosticte (talk) 21:28, 24 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Because AuthPlugin is a MediaWiki core feature and has been there since 2004; it's an interface that extensions can build upon, just like the SpecialPage class and such. See includes/AuthPlugin.php. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 23:36, 25 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
My bad; as soon as I saw require_once( "$IP/extensions/MyAuthPlugin/MyAuthPlugin.php" ); under the Installation heading I thought "Looks like an extension!" Hmm, might this not be a candidate for the Manual: namespace, if it's a core feature? Leucosticte (talk) 02:44, 26 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
IMO there isn't much how-to on this page, and I think that's what a manual should be for...--Jasper Deng (talk) 03:01, 26 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Domain[edit]

What is a "domain" in the context of AuthPlugin? Is it whatever the writer of the AuthPlugin extension wants it to be, rather than having any significance in a default MW configuration? I guess it refers to, say, commons.wikimedia.org, although I would usually think of that as more of a subdomain. Leucosticte (talk) 13:25, 25 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

If you need to write your own plugin, see the source doc at [<tvar|link>https://doc.wikimedia.org/mediawiki-core/master/php/classAuthPlugin.html Rebulka (talk) 20:50, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
