Definition of "clash"[edit]

What's the definition of "clash"? Did you just mean "share the same username", or does it mean that they wouldn't unify automatically at Special:MergeAccount because they don't share email and/or password (bugzilla:39817). --Nemo 10:59, 12 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

The latter. Jdforrester (WMF) (talk) 15:09, 12 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Very interesting, it's way worse than I thought... or better, if those are careful users using different passwords for their accounts on different wikis, but I hope they remember them. --Nemo 15:34, 12 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wrongly unattached accounts[edit]

Note that we also have an unknown amount of automatically created accounts that are not attached to any global account: some of the relevant reports are bug 29234, bug 39060, bug 39996, bug 35792, bug 39997. Some of them may be counted as "clashing" because the password, the email or both got lost in the DB. A list could be done by checking, among the local unattached post-2008 accounts, which have a corresponding log entry for autocreation. --Nemo 15:12, 22 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Absolutely. We hope to clean up all of these as part of this process. Jdforrester (WMF) (talk) 15:23, 22 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Special:CentralAuth says that I have 3 accounts not merged on 3 locked wikis. What should I do? Yann (talk) 21:08, 14 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Updates?[edit]

Can this be updated each month? Just a short summary metric? It would be good to see the progress of unification. 66.31.46.165 07:38, 3 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

As the page itself explains, those queries are not trivial to run. Moreover, the engineer who performed them no longer works for the WMF. I agree that notifications should be sent to users as soon as possible and the unification progress should then be monitored regularly for a few weeks/months. --Nemo 07:42, 3 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
