Project:MediaWiki Farmers user group

From MediaWiki.org
Jump to: navigation, search

The MediaWiki Farmers user group is an approved user group of developers who work on wiki farms. Our mission is to improve and standarize the way MediaWiki wiki farms are setup and run.

There is currently no documentation on how to set up a farm, and every single one does it differently. The biggest wiki farm, the Wikimedia Foundation, has an incredibly complex setup which is not repeatable by other people wishing to start a farm. Our group will benefit MediaWiki farms by improving documentation of the Wikimedia setup, in order for other developers to replicate it locally, lowering the barrier for new developers to hack on MediaWiki and Wikimedia code.

We plan on engaging in active code review, development of new features, and providing support for other wiki farms.
